WMDC was originally funded with a development load of £2m from Wigan Borough Council and has subsequently obtained further funding from further grants such as European Development Funding.

We are very aware of the effects that operations have on the planet, and that is why we are taking significant steps to reduce our environmental impact.
WMDC has recently implemented changes as the world goes greener, and the UK face an energy crisis. The team have worked hard over the past 2 years working with the solar industry to design and install a fantastic solar panel system across both the Wigan Investment Centre and CT3 Buildings. WMDC has also contributed to having a PV System in place at Dorset Road Community Centre, Atherton.
We have also replaced the boilers in the Wigan Investment Centre with more energy-efficient boilers which are also hydrogen ready.
Light fittings in all 19 buildings that we own/manage have been replaced with LED, which is more energy efficient.
We will be looking at further options to reduce our carbon footprint in the future, all whilst supporting our tenants financially by keeping our rates stable and highly competitive within the Borough.
