WIGAN METROPOLITAN DEVELOPMENT COMPANY (INVESTMENT) LIMITED WAS ESTABLISHED IN MARCH 1984 BY WIGAN BOROUGH COUNCIL AS PART OF AN IDUSTRIAL STRATEGY AIMED AT REGENERATING AND REVITALISING A BOROUGH THEN IN THE GRIP OF DEEP RECESSION.

The borough, in common with many of the norths traditional areas, suffered industrial closures, falling demand and increasing redundancy.

WMDC was originally funded with a development load of £2m from Wigan Borough Council and has subsequently obtained further funding from further grants such as European Development Funding.

We offer a wide range of business accommodation. We also offer build to let options should you require a new build premises. With extensive knowledge and access to land throughout the Wigan Borough, we are able to assist with rented premises, acquiring land, construction, design and layout of bespoke office and industrial premises .

OUR COMMITMENTS TO GOING GREEN

We are very aware of the effects that operations have on the planet, and that is why we are taking significant steps to reduce our environmental impact.

WMDC has recently implemented changes as the world goes greener, and the UK face an energy crisis. The team have worked hard over the past 2 years working with the solar industry to design and install a fantastic solar panel system across both the Wigan Investment Centre and CT3 Buildings. WMDC has also contributed to having a PV System in place at Dorset Road Community Centre, Atherton.

We have also replaced the boilers in the Wigan Investment Centre with more energy-efficient boilers which are also hydrogen ready.

Light fittings in all 19 buildings that we own/manage have been replaced with LED, which is more energy efficient.

We will be looking at further options to reduce our carbon footprint in the future, all whilst supporting our tenants financially by keeping our rates stable and highly competitive within the Borough.

We first became involved with the Wigan Metropolitan Development Co, through a business acquisition.

The facility itself offers ease of access and boasts a very large carpark that always has plenty of available parking. There’s always a friendly face to welcome you into a bright and newly refurbished reception, and unusually, it also offers an onsite café serving hot food.

Like most businesses in a post-pandemic world, we are now using a hybrid-working pattern and that necessitated a reduction in our office footprint commitment. Their approach to this requirement was pragmatic, professional and incredibly friendly.

Like many small businesses, Cloud Perspective Ltd was formed out of necessity when its two owners were made redundant, from two separate companies in 2011.
